The Las Cruces International Film Festival is set to kick off its opening night with showings of the New Mexico film "Little Brother," directed by Sheridan O’Donnell, a Korean American writer and director. The film, which has garnered multiple award nominations and accolades, will be featured on April 3 at the Allen Theatre Cineport 10 at 700 S. Telshor Boulevard.

"We are looking forward to the filmmakers and stars of the film who will attend and greet the audience and host a question-and-answer session after the screenings," expressed Ross Marks, the festival's executive director and a professor in NMSU's Creative Media Institute.

Following the screening, O’Donnell, lead actor Philip Ettinger, executive producer Mary Haarmeyer, and producer Kegan Karnes will be present to engage with the audience and provide insights into the making of the film.

"Little Brother" portrays the story of Jake and Pete, estranged brothers on a transformative road trip from Albuquerque to Seattle. With Daniel Diemer starring as Jake, Philip Ettinger as Pete, and J.K. Simmons and Polly Draper portraying their parents, the film delves into the complexities of their relationship as they cover 1,400 miles following Pete's recent suicide attempt.

The film festival, held annually and in its ninth edition, promises five days of diverse films, workshops, and VIP parties featuring works from filmmakers across the U.S. and worldwide. Additionally, tickets for the festival, including the screening of "Little Brother," are currently available for purchase on the festival's website.
