Students from New Mexico State University’s Graduate School were recognized earlier this week by the Doña Ana Board of County Commissioners with a proclamation that celebrates their remarkable achievements and engagement throughout the county. The proclamation highlights the impact of graduate students at NMSU and their diverse talents, perspective, and contribution to a dynamic and inclusive society.

"New Mexico State University stands as a beacon of higher education statewide, fostering innovation, research and intellectual growth," as stated in the proclamation. Additionally, “Its graduate students serve as integral pillars of academic excellence, driving forward the frontiers of knowledge with dedication, perseverance and intellectual curiosity.”

Ranjit Koodali, dean of NMSU Graduate School, Cynthia Wise, president of NMSU Graduate Student Council (GSC), Haleigh Haven, treasurer of NMSU GSC, and Anna Harmon, secretary of NMSU GSC were in attendance to receive the proclamation on April 23. The proclamation also declares that the first week of April will be recognized as “Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week.”

"The acknowledgement of April 1st week as Graduate and Professional Student Appreciation Week by Doña Ana County is indicative of the recognition of graduate students’ valuable contributions to the tripartite mission of teaching, research, and service to NMSU," expressed Koodali. He further added, “In addition, NMSU graduate students enrich the lives of residents of Doña Ana through community service and engagement.”

“We commend and celebrate the remarkable achievements and contributions of graduate students at NMSU,” the proclamation states. “We recognize their vital role in advancing knowledge in every academic discipline and we appreciate their dedication to academic excellence, outreach and engagement throughout Doña Ana County.”
