38 Candidates file for the 2024 Primary Election on Filing Day

A total of 38 major-party candidates have submitted their declarations to run for their respective offices for the 2024 Primary Election in Doña Ana County. The filing took place on Tuesday, March 12, at the Doña Ana County Government Center, as mandated by NM Stat 1-8-26.

The candidates who filed included individuals running for non-federal, statewide, and countywide positions such as State Senator, State Representative, District Attorney, Magistrate Court Judge, County Clerk, County Treasurer, and County Commissioner. Candidates running for Federal offices had filed their declarations earlier with the Secretary of State on February 6.

Doña Ana County Clerk, Dr. Amanda López Askin, expressed satisfaction with the filing day, stating, "We had a successful filing day in Doña Ana County and our staff did a great job in serving our constituents with great customer service. We want to extend our congratulations to all the candidates who stepped up to run for office and offer them our best wishes in the months ahead."

Candidates who filed will be notified of their qualification by Tuesday, March 19, as required by NM Stat 1-8-26 (D). The 2024 Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4, with early voting starting on Tuesday, May 7.
